Today marks the 39th anniversary of Malcolm X's assassination. This was a religious leader and civil rights activist who was attacked while he was delivering a speech at New York City's Central Park in 1965. The assailants came from the Nation of Islam Black Muslim organization. The men were charged in the first degree with murder. The two men who were charged with first-degree murder maintained their innocence. However, the third man admitted that he was guilty in 1966. All three men were sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
